I saw an interview with Dr. Salk where on earth he said something to the effect that the greatest praise he ever receives is when infantile people, approaching you, say something approaching "what's the big deal around Polio?".
Well, that was a pretty big advancement, in a minute wasn't it?
Bingo.
All of the major vaccines are across the world well tolerated and own made many parts of the world (including the USA) a safer and in good health place. Especially compared to an unvaccinated world.
NYC was hit complex by polio in 1916 http://www.endofpolio.org/timeline/timel. -- 9,000 ethnic group died and many more paralyzed. And polio ward in the 1950s be in tons large hospitals http://www.endofpolio.org/timeline/timel.
It is confident to forget the tremendous positive impact that vaccines have have. Seen any iron lugs around lately? Talked to someone who gave birth contained by the 40's or 50's? They remember fearing their kids would contract polio. And heaps did -- some wear leg braces to this very hours of daylight. And it is still a threat in some parts of the world.
